Software Localization Engineer
Project-Based | Remote & On-Site
We are seeking an experienced software localization engineer to support our global software localization projects on a contract or freelance basis. English is the core working language.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for localization projects.
- Collaborate closely with translators, vendors, and project managers about technical requirements, processes, and solutions.
- Determine counts of files, words, and assets in project sources.
- Set up file structures to make them ready to be localized.
- Manage Translation Memory (TM) and Glossary base on a client-by-client basis.
- Configure and use localization tools. Manage software files by using version control systems, and promptly track and fix defects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems that arise in the engineering process.
- Conduct validation, compilation, and testing of localized products until they meet quality assurance (QA) standards.
- Help the project team deliver the localized product for publication or production.
- Meet with clients as required by project managers (involving project status, problem solving, kick-offs, post-project reviews, etc.)
Qualifications
- English can be used as your core working language (for technical documentation, tool configuration, and communication with PMs, engineers, and clients).
- Proficiency in additional languages (such as German) is a strong advantage, but not a hard requirement.
- Proven experience as a software localization engineer or in a similar localization engineering role.
- Practical knowledge of localization workflows, file formats, and multilingual software publications.
- Hands-on experience with localization tools, Translation Memory systems, and version control platforms
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to builds, tools, and localization processes.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, consistency, and functionality.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team.
- Comfortable working on a project-based, contract, or freelance basis.
